TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR OKLAHOMA CITY WORKSHOP REGISTRATION
Don’t get caught up in the end-of-year rush and miss out on savings for the Will Rogers Writers’ Workshop in Oklahoma City in March 2007.  The earlybird registration deadline is December 31, 2006.  You’ll get a $25 discount if you register by that date, and you can apply the savings to your Christmas shopping.

Kelly James-Enger, Contributing Editor at The Writer magazine, has been added to the lineup of outstanding writers, editors and other instructors for the workshop, which is being presented by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists in partnership with the Erma Bombeck Writers Workshop.  She will conduct two workshop sessions on how to achieve financially rewarding success as a freelance writer.

The workshop will be held at the Renaissance Convention Center Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City March 15-17, 2007.  Information on registration and hotel reservations may be found on at www.willrogersok.org.

Also on the program is Matt Schneider of American Greetings, who will show how freelancers can make big money selling greeting card ideas.   Last March in Dayton, Schneider packed the room for his presentations.

Other speakers include noted writing coach Paula LaRocque, USA Today columnist Craig Wilson, iUniverse President Susan Driscoll, western-Christian fiction author Terry Burns, successful self-syndicator Jim Miller and everybody’s favorite, W. Bruce Cameron.

Tim Bete will demonstrate how to build a smart writer’s Web site, dynamic Texas story-teller Dave Lieber will present sessions on self-promotion and jump starting a writing career, Louisa McCune-Elmore will point the way to the rich market of regional magazines, Jay Cronley will share his experience in writing novels that were made into major motion pictures, and Suzette Martinez-Standring will reveal some secrets of successful column-writing that she compiled for a book.

Chicago-area columnist Ray Hanania, who is also a professional stand-up comedian, will help organize an after-dinner comedy hour for Saturday, March 17, 2007, following a drawing for valuable prizes, including the grand prize of two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines for any of its destinations.
